The 10-million-year-old Qadisha Grotto was first discovered in 1903, but it wasn’t until 1923, at the onset of the Qadisha electric project, that real exploration commenced. At present, 778 metres of cave have been fully surveyed, revealing a dazzling collection of stalactites and stalagmites in wonderful colours.
The grotto is a 7km walk or drive from Bcharré off the old road to The Cedars; follow the signs and then take the concrete footpath opposite (look for the ‘Entree Grotte Kadicha’ sign). It’s then a 1.5km walk to the grotto.
Qadisha Grotto is one of the most amazing places that you can visit in Bcharre. You can visit it everyday (except on Mondays). The season starts in May and ends in November.
