Barghoun is a small village in Koura district near Anfeh.
In an olive grove at the northern edge of Barghoun village lie the remains of a 12th-14th century church dedicated to Saint Barbara. The well preserved apse is decorated with a unique wall painting representing the Virgin as Orans, (hands raised in a traditional gesture of prayer) between two angels.
Upon her chest is a shield with the bust portrait of the Christ-Emmanuel. On his right is the motif of the Burning Bush, an image related to the monastery of Saint Catherine in Sinai. The prayer niche in this church is covered by a distinguished Byzantine mural painting.
The wall paintings condition nowadays compared to older pictures.
Each year, on the 4th of December, locals from nearby villages celebrate Saint Barbara day by attending a mass on the remain of this church.
